My next boardgame night is probably sometime in the middle of October. Below is a list of some of the games in my collection. Maybe you’ll find something you like.
Azul
A strategic tile-drafting game. Collect like tiles at Portuguese factory to decorate a wall. The designs are pretty, and bonuses build-up as your project materializes. Get points for laying tiles and lose points for grabbing more than you need.
Betrayal at House on the Hill
Explore a labyrinthian Victorian home filled with paranormal and Eldritch horrors. It’s like roleplaying Scooby Doo, but the monsters are evil, not just greedy schmucks committing insurance fraud.
Cards Against Humanity
Are you a terrible person? Yes you are. Make people laugh with witty and offensive responses to prompts. The winner has a special place in Hell waiting for them.
Catan (The Settlers of Catan)
Exploit an island for resources to colonize & develop lands faster than your competition.
Clue
The classic whodunnit game of deduction. If you don’t like this game, you better have a good explanation.
Dixit
Dixit is a card game about communication. Describe whimsical and surreal images to other players, but don’t be too obvious.
Dominion
Do you like card games like MTG but would prefer a more concise game with a limited scope? This is a deck-building game. Each round, select and use cards with specific actions to gain wealth or more cards for more actions… while trying to buy more feudal lands than other players.
Dreamwell
Navigate through an ethereal maze featuring the artwork of Tara McPherson. Rescue friends and creatures from this nightmare realm.
Dungeon Royale
Explore and fight your way through a dungeon inspired by 8-bit classics.
Eldersign
A co-operative dice and card game in which you are tasked with sealing away Eldritch horrors.
Fluxx
The rules constantly change in this card game as you play. Can you set up the conditions that make you win?
Forbidden Island
This is one of my favourite cooperative games. Play as team of action archeologists while exploring a sinking island in search of mystical artifacts. Can your whole team escape the island alive and with all the treasures you seek?
Gloom
This is a card game about the macabre and morbid. Spin a tale about the most miserable family to win.
Guillotine
This card game is about beheading French aristocracy. Play cards to change the execution schedule and try to survive with your head on your shoulders.
Horrified
Capture classic monsters who are terrorizing a small town.
Hanabi
This is a card game about asymmetrical information and communication. You’re a team trying to design a fireworks spectacular. View everyone’s cards but not your own. Give limited instructions to other players and guide each other into playing whole suits to build the fireworks arsenal for the show.
Hues & Cues
What are qualia? Do we all perceive the same reality? This is a game about communication. Accurately describe and guess specific colors based on limited one and two word descriptions.
Indian Summer
You’re a woodland creature foraging in the autumn harvest. Collect berries and nuts and fit them into your trove.
King of Tokyo
You are a kaiju vying for control of downtown Tokyo. Role dice, attack, and power-up. Can you keep control?
